Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley is now also former UN Ambassador.

She announced her resignation yesterday, catching many observers off guard, and, as Fox News reported, "leaving Washington guessing about the next move for one of the administration's most prominent figures."

In remarks to reporters, Haley seemingly shut down speculation that she would organize a bid for president in 2020, claiming she would return to private life and endorsing President Trump. Not everyone is convinced, though, as some pundits see Haley as the fastest rising star in the Republican party.

Michael To Make Landfall in Florida Today

Hurricane Michael was upgraded to a Category 4 storm early this morning, as it made its way up the Gulf Coast. The powerful storm is expected to slam into the Florida Panhandle this afternoon.

CNN reports, “Michael was expected to intensify overnight and be near Category 4 strength when it makes landfall Wednesday afternoon near the Panhandle or Big Bend area, the National Weather Service said.”

Michael will create dangerous surges that will hit low-lying areas ill-equipped to handle them, though the storm's speed will prevent it from dumping the massive amounts of rain that Hurricane Florence did last month. Track Hurricane Michael via the National Hurricane Center here.

CMN's Kayleigh Shultis has a roundup of America's best haunted attractions.
Wednesday's Morning Scoop was made possible by Natalia Kolenko, Tom Spurling, Kayleigh Shultis, and the CMN Staff. We have that bittersweet feeling today, there's no denying it.
