2020 Award Applications Now Open for Phi Kappa Phi

By Victoria Robertson

As a college student, any opportunity to save money when it comes to education is on your radar, which is why you should add the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi to your list.

Not only is this, according to a recent press release, “the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor societ[ies],” but they are also now accepting applications for the 2020 awards program.

Phi Kappa Phi has recognized members and students in chapter campuses for academic achievements since 1932, awarding about $1 million annually and recognizing over 350 individuals.

According to Chisom Ogoke, a Phi Kappa Phi award recipient, “I’m so grateful to Phi Kappa Phi, not only for giving me the opportunity to start graduate school undistracted by finances, but also giving me the encouragement to pursue my studies knowing that my dream career is in reach and that opportunities are out there.”

The 2020 awards program includes, but is not limited to, Fellowships, Study Abroad Grants, Love of Learning Awards, Literacy Grants, Scholar/Artist and Distinguished Service Awards.

Through these various awards, graduate students can receive funding for a variety of initiatives, including graduate studies, continued education, professional development, study abroad initiatives and local, national and international literacy initiatives.

For those interested in putting in their applications, current programs include Fellowships, which will award $615,000 this year, Study Abroad Grants, which will award 75 grants of $1,000 each, Literacy Grants, which will award up to $2,500 to individual members, Love of Learning Awards, which will award 200 awards at $500 each, Scholar and Artist, which will include a life membership and $1,000 donation to a nonprofit cause, and Distinguished Service, which will include a life membership and a $1,000 donation to a nonprofit cause.
