Franklin Pierce University Professor Honored as Regional Top Journalism Educator

Franklin Pierce is getting a huge award, but it’s not a Pulitzer.

Yesterday, Dr. Kristen Nevious, director of the University’s Marlin Fitzwater Center for Communications at Franklin Pierce University has been named this year’s New England Journalism Educator of the Year.

The New England Society of News Editors’ Board of Governors are the ones who choose the winner of this award, where it recognizes a professor at a New England college or university who is “doing outstanding work to prepare journalists to lead our newspaper organizations into the future,” according to the New England Newspapers and Press Association website.

Franklin Pierce University has a mighty impressive communications department, where there communication has been dedicated to educating leaders of conscience in public communication. The Center houses the University’s Department of Communication, serves as the home for the University’s nationally-recognized polling operation and the Pierce Media Group, which consists of the student-run Newspaper, TV studio, and Raven Sports Broadcasting Network.

This award will be presented at the New England Society of News Editors Spring Awards celebration on Thursday at the Boston Globe headquarters.
