Cuesta College, in San Luis Obispo, California is one of the many schools that is changing their smoking rules for the better.

According to a school press release, this campus will become a smoke- and tobacco-free district beginning in 2019. With only designated smoking areas in San Luis Obispo and North County campuses, this is a massive win for there health.

In 2016, The Truth Initiative, awarded Cuesta College with a $7,500 grant dedicated to eliminating the use of tobacco.

With a variety of programs, leading up to this, it is a creative approach to students health and wellness. The San Luis Obispo campus will be holding a cigarette butt clean-up event, and the college is also partnering with the San Luis Obispo County Public Health Department to offer a free, six-week smoking cessation course beginning April 11, easing many.
