Do Tobias Forge and Ghost Owe it All to Alice Cooper?

From one shock rocker to another.

Tobias Forge recently got candid while hosting ABC Australia’s Rage channel. The Ghost vocalist shared a long list of artists he deemed musical idols, which include genre-definers like King Diamond, Faith No More, Jane’s Addiction, Duran Duran, Kraftwerk, Bjork, Black Eyed Peas and A Camp.

When Forge got to Alice Cooper, he admitted Ghost’s success was directly related to the Hollywood Vampire lead singer’s pioneering performances.

“What is shock rock without Alice Cooper? I lack the proper words to fully explain how vital he’s been for the whole genre of rock’n’roll. But also speaking from a context where, I guess, we are also a theatrical shock-rock band, we wouldn’t have been here had it not been for Alice Cooper,” he said.

Forge also mentioned German metal kings Accept as another big influence, saying that their presence within the music industry has often been overlooked compared fellow countrymen The Scorpions, who influenced a generation of hair metal bands.

“Where Scorpions have been more known for their big ballads, their little brothers Accept are one of my favourite bands from that time, who definitely get way too little credit for their fantastic songwriting and their complete, ballsy nature,” he said.

Ghost recently shared the lyric video for “Faith,” from their fifth studio album Prequel, along with the dates for their UK and European The Ultimate Tour Named Death tour. All Them Witches and Tribulation are slated to perform on many of the dates.
