Ruby Rose Cast as Batwoman on The CW

A sensitive pick for the new role.

In the new CW series, “Batwoman,” the familiar superhero is scripted to be an out lesbian with the real name Kate Kane. According to NBC, real-life out lesbian Ruby Rose, famous for her role on Netflix’s “Orange is the New Black,” will play the new role.

Before “Batwoman” gets picked up for the 2019-2020 season, the character will appear on “Legends of Tomorrow” and “Supergirl,” as well as The CW’s “Arrow” and “The Flash.”
