The big story…

Bernie Sanders Is Running for President in 2020

Vermont Senator and former Vermont Congressman Bernie Sanders announced on Tuesday, Feb. 19 his own presidential campaign for the 2020 Democratic Party presidential nomination. If he becomes the political party’s nominee and defeats incumbent Republican President Donald Trump, he will become the country’s oldest president ever elected at 79 years old, since former president Ronald Reagan, who was 69 years old at the beginning of his term in 1981, and Trump, who was 70 years old at the beginning of his term in 2017. Sanders will also become the country’s first Jewish American president as well as the first openly socialist president if elected. Read more in Duane Paul Murphy’s report for CMN.

Winter Storm to Affect 90 Million Americans

A strong winter storm is expected to deliver snow, sleet, freezing rain and possible flooding across most of the eastern US through Thursday. CNN reports, “More than 117 million people in the country, many from the Plains and Midwest to the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, are under some sort of winter weather watch, warning or advisory. Nearly 20 million are facing a flood warning, watch or a flash flood watch across the Southeast.” The heaviest snow will hot between Omaha and the Twin Cities, with much of the Pacific Northwest under winter weather warnings and watches as well.

Utah Congressman Creates an Anti-Socialism Caucus in Congress

Utah Congressman Chris D. Steward creates an Anti-Socialist Caucus in the U.S. Congress to counter the rise of leftist politics nationwide. The former U.S. Air Force major and author, whose congressional district includes portions of Salt Lake City and rural southern as well as western regions of the state, believes that his newly formed caucus will highlight criticism and concerns regarding the leftist sociopolitical ideology. Former Mass. Governor Bill Weld to Likely Challenge Trump in 2020

Former Massachusetts Governor Bill Weld has formed an exploratory committee for a Republican Party primary presidential run in 2020 against incumbent U.S. President Donald Trump. Speaking at Saint Anselm College’s New Hampshire Institute of Politics and New England Council on Friday, February 15, Weld, who was a former United States Attorney under the Republican presidential administration of Ronald Reagan during the 1980s, is the only known potential open challenger to Trump so far.
